_______________________________________
Producing art work is
as compelling to me as breathing. And it’s fun.
Although my work always has an abstract
undercarriage, there are usually recognizable
shapes or subject matter on the surface mostly
used for the purpose of dividing the space
pleasingly into many interesting parts. I often
choose a beautiful scene or a charming person to
paint or draw but over time I’ve become more
interested in just the shapes that I can create.
Sometimes it is the shape alone that is of
interest.
When I decide to do something visual, I think
through the options of materials and decide
which medium would best translate the idea: oil,
acrylic, ink, pencil or watercolor. After that
I decide if it would be better in an abstract
format, realistic or even stylistic.
I
am endlessly fascinated with the different ways
of pushing paint around a piece of paper but am
always thrilled with the marks you can make with
a simple pencil.
