Charles Reid Cancled
April 15-20, 2007

Mr. Reid will stress learning to paint directly from the model during the first two days of the workshop and from still-life floral set-ups the remainder of the week. If time allows and weather permits, there may be some beach painting. Each painting will be finished in two and a half hours or less. This means students will strive for the correct tonal value, color, and edges on the first try. Over-painting and glazes will be discouraged whenever possible. We'll work to simplify and avoid overworking.

There will be demonstrations each morning, followed by lunch, after which the class will paint in the afternoon. There will be critiques as well as individual attention. Monday and Tuesday will be devoted to painting the model, while Wednesday and Thursday will feature floral set-ups. Mr. Reid will do a painting demonstration on the last morning.

About the instructor
Mr. Reid was educated at the University of Vermont and Art Students League of New York. His masterful techniques are well known to watercolor painters all over the world. His work has won many awards and been shown at exhibitions nationally and internationally. Mr. Reid lives in Green Farms, Connecticut. He is the author of ten books, the most recent, "Charles Reid's Watercolor Secrets" was published by North Light in 2004.
